Motherwell F.C.

Motherwell FC Crest The current crest of Motherwell FC was adopted by the club in 1982, following a competition held among the club's supporters to come up with a new and exciting design.

The winning entry can be seen to the right. At the top is the club name and at the bottom the date of the club's foundation.

The centre of the crest shows (i) fir trees - Fir Park being the home ground of the club; (ii) a football - the sport played by the club; and (iii) an image of the famous (now defunct) Motherwell Ravenscraig Steelworks.

The club's nickname is in fact 'The Steelmen'. Another unofficial nickname is 'The Dossers' and it is suggested that this could be a reference to the steel workers who used to sleep during the nightshift at the steelworks!

Motherwell FC has won every honour available in Scottish football.

Thanks to John Swinburne, Director at Motherwell FC, for the above crest and information.
