Vale of Leithen F.C.

Vale of Leithen FC Crest The crest of Vale of Leithen FC features a figure in a boat. This is Saint Ronan, the Patron Saint of Innerleithen, the town wVale of Leithen FChere Vale of Leithen FC is based.

Saint Ronan features heavily in the local folklore of the area and in particular, during the town's annual Summer Festivities.

Saint Ronan is said to "protect" Innerleithen from the Devil and uses the crook seen in his left hand to "cleik" (catch) him. In his other hand, Saint Ronan holds a lantern to show him the way.

Innerleithen is not a coastal town, so the water Saint Ronan is sailing on is probably that of the River Tweed.

It has also been said that the image of Saint Ronan in a boat depicts 'the sojourn through life'.

The crest is completed with the club name and the motto, "Keep Faith".

Thanks to Ken Brown, Chairman at Vale of Leithen FC, for the above crest and information.
