Galway United F.C.
Galway United FC introduced a new club crest during 2002.
With a more sharp, clean and modern feel to it, the crest now incorporates the word 'Gaillimh' - Irish for 'Galway' - as well as the full club name, 'Galway United FC'.
Prior to the re-design process, club officials consulted a cross section of key individuals and organisations (including the club's supporters) to ascertain their views on various designs for a new club crest.
It is widely felt that the adopted design retains the traditional features such as a boat and the sea (which are synonymous with Galway and a part of the old crest) while providing the more up-to-date design that was desired.
A version of the old Galway United FC crest is shown left.
