Carolina Dynamo S.C.
Formed as Greensboro Dynamo SC (an amateur club) in 1992Carolina Dynamo SC, the club changed its name to Carolina Dynamo SC in 1996, having joined the United Soccer Leagues (USL) system, and turned professional, the previous year.
The club logo (crest) was created in 1993 (and updated in 1996 after the club's name change) by the owner of the Dynamo club, Neil Macpherson.
As a shareholder and keen supporter of English side, Nottingham Forest FC, the logo strongly resembles the crest of that club. Neil's father was a past Chairman of Nottingham Forest.
The 'red' elements of the logo are effectively the crest of Nottingham Forest FC. The tree represents Sherwood Forest, for which Nottingham is known worldwide through the Robin Hood stories, while the wavy lines represent the River Trent, which runs through the city of Nottingham and directly past The City Ground, home stadium of Nottingham Forest FC.
The blue triangle represents two local triads. The first is made up of the very near neighbours of Greensboro (where Carolina Dynamo is based), High Point and the large city of Winston-Salem. A second larger triad - the 'Piedmont Triangle' - consists of the first triad with the city of Chapel Hill and the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area. These areas are known as rapidly growing technology hotbeds.
Additionally, the Carolina Dynamo logo shows the club name and a football (representing the sport played).
Thanks to Scott Zapko, Assistant General Manager at Carolina Dynamo SC, for the above crest and information. (Additional information from Michael Raney, President / CEO of the World Football Organization.)
